USB EasyCap Video Capture Device

VIDUSBEC - Setup Instructions

This is an example setup for the USB video capture device.

Driver Installation

Windows XP/Vista users

Please use the supplied driver on the CD, this can be found by running the Setup installation file. Once the setup installation completes, the drivers will be successfully installed on your computer, and you can commence using the supported software immediately (Debut Video Capture Software or Golden Videos VHS to DVD Converter).

Windows 7 Users

32-bit drivers - download here.

64-bit drivers - download here.

Extract the zip to a folder.

After you plug in the device, bring up the Add Hardware Wizard (it may come up automatically). There are two possible dialogs you may get here.

This is for the dialog that comes up automatically -

1) Select 'Browse my computer for driver software'.

2) Then in the next window select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

3) Then select 'Have Disk...', then 'Browse..' Browse to the folder where you extracted the zip file.

This is where you click the 'Add Hardware' wizard -

1) Select 'Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)'

2) Select the category' Sound, video and game controllers'

3) Then select 'Have Disk...', then 'Browse..' Browse to the folder where you extracted the zip file.

After this step, Windows will attempt to install the drivers, and will notify you of the outcome once completed.

When you get to the end, check your Device Manager again. The sound, video and game controllers section should have the video and audio devices listed ('USB2861 Device' and 'USB (EMP) Audio Device'). The audio device at this stage will probably say it doesn't work (you'll see the exclamation mark on it). Right-click on the audio device and select 'Update Driver'. Then select 'Browse my computer for driver software'. On the next screen select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'. It should come back to you with 2 possible drivers, one says 'USB Audio Device', the other say 'USB EMP Audio Device'. Select 'USB Audio Device' and let it install that. Next, Windows will install it and then it should start working.

Next, go into the Control Panel -> Sounds -> Recording tab. You will see the USB EMP Audio Device listed there, it is called either "Line" or "Line In". Double-click it to open its properties -> go to the 'Listen' tab -> select the option 'Listen to this device' and then select the appropriate playback device to pipe it through.

This will send the input audio stream out through your selected playback device.

You can now start using Debut Video Capture Software or Golden Videos VHS to DVD Converter.
