Q. What type of call recording adapter should I use?
If you have an analog telephone line then use a direct line connection call recording adapter.

If you have a digital telephone line you will need to use a call recording adapter handset model.

Q. How do I connect a call recording adapter to my telephone line?
Call recording adapters can only be directly connected to analog telephone lines (Direct Line Connectors). If you have a digital line you will have to use an adapter that connects to the telephone handset instead (see Handset Connectors).

The direct line call recording adapter has a telephone type plug (RJ11) on the end of one cable and an audio type plug on the end of the other cable. Use a telephone double adaptor to plug the device into your phone line; plug the other cable into the mic input of your computer's sound card. Q. How do I connect a call recording adapter to the handset on my telephone?
A call recording adapter cannot be directly connected to a digital telephone line. Instead, it must be connected between the handset and the telephone's base unit.

The adapter has a handset type plug (RJ12) on the end of one cable, an RJ12 socket on the adapter case, and an audio type plug on the end of the other cable. Disconnect the telephone handset's cable from the telephone base unit and plug it into the RJ12 socket on the adapter case. Plug the cable from the adapter with the RJ12 plug into the telephone base unit where the handset was previously plugged, and plug the other cable into the mic input of your computer's sound card.
