Option 3 - Setup

Setting up a multiple line PBX system using a telephone to stereo adapter and External USB device is easy. Just follow the instructions below, and, if in doubt, refer to the diagram above.

NOTE: This option is recommended for systems using two phone lines. If you are using more than two phone lines you may follow the Option 2 diagram above and connect to an external USB device, however we highly recommend Option 3 for systems with more than two phone lines.

  1. Split each phone line using a double adapter, and connect one of the lines into the PBX unit. The PBX unit can then be connected to your telephone handsets.
  2. You should now have one line plugged into your PBX and the other free.
  3. If using only two phone lines, connect the lines to a 'telephone to stereo' converter plug.
  4. Plug this line into the sound card's audio jack in the back of the computer (The "audio jack" is the microphone (Mic) or Line In socket on the sound card. Some sound cards have both, in which case the Mic socket should be used. Otherwise the Line In should be used).
  5. If using more than two phone lines, connect remainding lines into the external USB device that is connected to the computer.
  6. Download and install the VRS Recording System on your computer.
  7. You are ready to go!
